The short answer: the ears. Below is everything that matters before you choose.
The only difference between a Scottish Fold and a Scottish Straight is the ears: the Fold's ears fold forward, the Straight's stand up. Everything else is one breed — the same round body, the same calm temperament, the same lineage, and they are born in the same litter.
So the real question is not which cat is better — it is whether the folded ears matter to you.
One breed, one difference. Everything below the first row is the same cat.
| Scottish Fold | Scottish Straight | |
|---|---|---|
| The ears | Folded forward | Standing up |
| Body and temperament | Identical — same breed | |
| Coat | Identical — same breed | |
| From the same litter? | Yes — a Fold × Straight mating produces both | |
| Mating (WCF standard) | Never bred to another Fold — the standard does not permit it | The partner the standard permits for a Fold |
| Pedigree certificate | Registered with WCF | |
| Our price | from SAR 2,600 | from SAR 2,500 |
| Who is it for | Someone who wants the folded ears | Someone who cares about the temperament and lineage at a lower price |
The WCF standard states that a Fold × Fold mating is not permitted; the permitted partner is a Straight or a British. That is why a Straight exists in any serious cattery — she is not a lesser cat, she is the half that makes a healthy Fold possible.
Every kitten is born with straight ears; the fold appears at about three to four weeks. We hand over at around 75 days, so if you buy a Fold from us you see her folded ears in her photos before you pay — you are not buying on a promise.
The gene that folds the ear also affects cartilage, and its effect is far stronger when a kitten inherits it from both parents. That is why the WCF standard does not permit Fold × Fold; the permitted mating is Fold × Straight (or British). The Straight is not a lesser cat — she is the half that makes a healthy Fold possible.
Because the fold gene affects cartilage, we always pair a Fold with a Straight — never Fold × Fold. Beyond that, keep her weight moderate and give her a comfortable place to rest. If you notice she walks stiffly or stops jumping like she used to, see a vet.
Our Scottish Fold is from SAR 2,600 and our Scottish Straight is from SAR 2,500. The Fold costs more because demand for the folded ears is higher, while a Fold × Straight litter gives roughly half of each. Same breed, same care — the price difference is the ears.
No. Temperament comes from the breed and from how the kitten was raised, not from the ears. Both are calm, sociable and attached to their people — and ours are raised at home in Makkah, not in cages.
If the folded ears are the look you want, choose the Fold. If you care about the Scottish temperament and lineage, the Straight is the same cat — usually priced lower in the same colour, since colour and lineage set the price more than the ears. Both come vet-checked and vaccinated, with free delivery to every city and a 24-hour health guarantee.
Pay the way that suits you — your order is confirmed the moment the payment goes through, and your invoice is issued straight away.
